Talk:John Waters
This page is in the category Celebrities & Real People, but one section states that he is not a subject of RPF and the only connection to fandom is that some of the movies he directed have fanfic about them. I don't think that is sufficient justification for creating a separate page on John Waters. I think this page should be deleted unless someone can add more about his relevance to fandom.--aethel (talk) 17:27, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- He's been supportive of many fannish values - love what you enjoy, mock the mainstream, make art that matters to you and never mind what other people think of it. And he loves the idea of remixes and remakes, but I haven't been able to track down a quote on that yet. He finds it hilarious that Hairspray was remade into a play and then the play was remade into a movie. But that was from a live interview, years ago, and I haven't been able to find a link for it.
- I think it's reasonable to have a page about any creator who is deeply involved in making content that fans use. "Fans like his work" should be enough for a page, especially as it could be the only page that ties together multiple works by the same author/producer. -- Elf (talk) 18:48, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
