Remove links

Jacksbrak, regarding your message, I decided to remove the podfic link because I saw there were only three works on AO3. If one of them is for a very popular fic, than I would link it individually along with that fic, but it doesn't seem necessary where there are so few. —caes (talk) 03:30, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Jacksbrak, see Fanlore's New Visitor Portal, which links to a few guides, including Help:Starting a new page. You can use the talk page by clicking "Edit" at the top of this page, and signing your comments with "~~~~". I also suggest that you move some of the fanwork examples to the pages for individual characters. —caes (talk) 03:56, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Caessius, thank you!!! That was so helpful. I definitely plan on fleshing out every character and ship page, no worries there. I just need a good starting place, and my biggest aim is to avoid link rot as I go along, so it'll take some time. Thank you for your help. --Jacksbrak (talk) 04:02, 4 December 2019 (UTC) Is there some kind of spoiler or trigger wall we can put up for certain things? For instance, I cannot personally work on these pages if there will be de*th mentions fanon or otherwise out in the open. Or is Fanlore just generally considered a spoilery site? Sorry ahead of time for being annoying -- Jacksbrak (talk) 23:10, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Subpages

I deleted the IT/Shipping subpage after making sure all the ships are on the main page. It's not standard to have a subpage for that. It there are a lot of ships with multiple ship names there can be a "List of IT Ships" page, but the ships can be easily listed in the Shipping section so that's not necessary here. —caes (talk) 23:57, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

caes, as has now been exemplified on Richie Tozier and Beverly Marsh's pages (all ships listed have fanworks on AO3), there are actually a *lot* of ships within the IT fandom. Would it be appropriate, now, to have a List of IT Ships page? If so, afterward, how do we determine which ships to list on the main page? And do I use Template:List? I'm assuming so. And what page title should this have? I mean, is it a subpage as such: IT/List of IT Ships, or something different? Thank you! Jacksbrak (talk) 00:44, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
There are pages like "List of Harry Potter Pairing Names", but this usually happens because there are multiple ship names and different naming conventions to keep track of. I edited the format of this page a little so I think it's less overwhelming and I created and linked Category: IT Relationships. There are lots of other fandom pages that just link to the relationship subcategory as a masterlist of ships. —caes (talk) 21:41, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi, caes is right List of IT Relationship Names would be most appropriate and we have a number of fandoms which use that template already. The Harry Potter page is amazing, but something like List of MCU Relationship Names might be better suited to IT. There are rarely different naming conventions in modern fandoms anymore. But it would be fine to link to Category:IT Relationships on a page instead. You also asked about which ships to link on the main page. You could add the link to whichever page you're using to list relationships, and not include any list of ships on the main page. You'd probably end up linking to some but not all shipping pages in discussion of shipping trends, or discussions of fandom.--Auntags (talk) 22:58, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Moved Information

  • Moved certain fanworks to better pages (pairing-specific, etc.) and moved the resources listed into place as a challenge, and two links for examples of fanfics. - Jacksbrak (talk) 03:05, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
  • Moved relationship-specific challenges to their respective ship pages on the wiki. - Jacksbrak (talk) 00:20, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Unnecessary Content

I plan to remove most of the examples in the Tropes section. I also want to edit down a lot of this page and other pages in the fandom, as many of them have an excessive amount of examples/links and not a lot of info about fandom activity. --caes (talk) 04:56, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

caes I agree with the removal of most tropes from the page, it urgently needs a cleanup. Jacksbrak aka. Eatacrayola just added a bunch of kinks and irrelevant pages with almost nothing related to fandom or Fanlore itself. Most of the pages he created engage solely and exclusively with that fandom, and sometimes have nothing but duplicate content or no viable content. I tried to edit this page but I can't for a long time because I don't feel good about the fandom and because my phone crashes with the formation of this page (for some reason that I don't know) --Ellakbhesse (talk) 11:16, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
