Kpop dance challenge on this page?

I noticed that Kpop dance challenge has been linked under Trend. I was wondering about this because my experience with the trend of kpop dance challenge doesn't seem like what is described here by Edit or on the Page Distracteddaydreamer (talk) 18:00, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

I agree. I don't think it counts as an 'edit'. They are dance covers, not clip edits. Maybe it could be replaced with Stage Mix? --Fitz (talk) 09:50, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
I also agree that it's not an edit trend, though I think it's not the only one: Maybe in another universe, She likes a boy (and I'm not a boy) and You could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve that boy were all TikTok slideshow trends, but not edit trends as far as I'm aware and have seen. I also think whether You, Me and Steve (meme) could be counted as an edit trend is debatable at best (IMO even though it's a video trend, the videos aren't really edits so it should be on the TikTok page but not here).
However, I also don't think Stage Mix is a distinct editing trend — a subgenre, definitely, but not a trend. That's not to say it shouldn't be added to the page, though. I've seen them around on TikTok enough to think they're worth mentioning, for sure.
Some trends I do think are edit trends and belong on the page are the Royalty Free music edit trend following UMG removing their songs from TikTok, and the recent trend of editing "villain" characters to "you don't know me" (example, example) which share distinct shared audios, a timeframe of popularity and edit themes — I'll make pages for both of these in the next couple of days.
I'll rework and expand this page with some explanation of how TikTok trends occur and expand on these specific trends shortly, which will hopefully make it more clear what is and isn't an edit trend for the future. I'll go through and tidy up the currently linked pages (because I think some of them don't make it clear what the main form of fanwork was so it would be easy to mistake a slideshow trend for an edit one). I'll also create a page for Slideshows as a TikTok format, where the above slideshow trends can be linked instead to make it less likely people will add slideshows to this page by mistake. Do you think a note on the FanloreProject:TikTok page might be a good idea? Castille (talk) 11:25, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
