A stage mix is a fanvid where a musician or band's stage performances of the same song are pieced together to smoothly transform the subject through their different performances. They are created in K-pop fandoms, and can be used to highlight both the range and the consistency of the performers.

History

Arguably, one of the most famous stage mixes was a mix of Brave Girls performing 'Rollin,' created by Korean fan VIDITOR and posted in 2021. It was a compilation of various performances, including one where the girls had performed for members of the Korean army. It had been edited to include various YouTube comments overlaid on top. It promptly went viral across South Korea, attracting the general public's attention.[1] The song rose to the top of real-time music charts four years after its initial release, becoming a sleeper hit. Before the stage mix, Brave Girls had been considered a nugu group and were on the verge of disbandment.[2] They went on to re-promote the song and attributed much of the group's success to the created stage mix, even offering to buy VIDITOR a meal as a thank you.[3]

After this, VIDITOR would become one of the most popular creators of stage mixes in Korean fandom, creating ones for Block B, Laboum, among others. Each video was often responsible for a sudden rise in popularity in groups, especially groups considered nugu.
