Talk:David Hewlett, How Are You So Awesome?

According to Amazon.com, the second season wasn't released on DVD until March 2007, so it would have had to be the first season. At least, that's the way the story was told on slodwick's journal. When I watched the first season commentaries, I remember hearing "How can you be so awesome" instead of "how are you so awesome", but I didn't watch all of them. If Gero said it in the second season DVD commentaries, he was probably doing it in response to the campaign.--Aethel 14:30, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

The reference in Slodwick's journal says Season One DVDs, so just go ahead and change it back. --rache 14:47, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I think there's a word or two missing in the phrase "The phrase in reference to a similar phrase Martin Gero used" (The phrase is used in? The phrase refers to?). Bellaboo 19:00, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Yup, typos. I changed it to 'the phrase used is a reference to a similar phrase..." Just go ahead and fix those when you find them. --rache 19:10, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I thought of changing it myself, but wanted to make sure the right meaning got up-- just because I could guess doesn't mean I'd be right. :)

All right. I know for sure that Gero used the exact phrase "How are you so awesome?" in the commentary to Duet, and those commentaries are often available on the internet before the DVDs are for sale. What we need is which season one episode Gero says it in, then.--Punk 21:44, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh, see, here's the commentary for "Conversion" (episode 2x08, Duet is episode 2x04): http://serabut.livejournal.com/197633.html?format=light posted on May 9, 2006. Almost a year before they came out on DVD, and right around the same time Slod proposed the campaign. So it's unlikely that Gero saying it in Duet was in response to the campaign.--Punk 22:05, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I put both versions on the page. I asked Slod, and she said she couldn't remember which episode it was and that it could have been Duet: link here.
I just feel like if the commentary to Duet had been a shoutout to the fans after the postcard campaign, that we would have been hopping all over the internet, shouting, "We did that! They're talking about us!" But I don't remember that happening. I am, of course, ready to be absolutely wrong.--Punk 01:22, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. Nothing wrong with covering all of our bases. And memory? Huh. --rache 01:27, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Seriously, that's why, starting now, we must write down everything in fandom as it happens so that years from now we will not be so confused.--Punk 01:36, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Re:your edits. Punk, how are you so awesome?--Aethel 02:04, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Glossary?

Is adding a glossary category to this appropriate? Given the way "how are you so awesome?" is now used everywhere.--MegR 20:18, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Sounds reasonable. Added!--Æthel 20:24, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
