Hello fellow Shigadabi shippers! :D<3 My name's Dublin! I tried to get as much of my ideas down and organized to start this article off! You can tell my attempts at tracking and tracing trends is all over the place like my thoughts haha. I have not slept yet. xD This was my very first page and I had a ridiculous amount of fun with it!! Shigadabi is my current OTP so it was a straight honor to contribute to the archive of it here!

Please please please add your personal touches! I've only been here a year so I don't have the memories needed to really flesh out the true beginning of Shigadabi! Nor am I in the middle of things to know everything that's going on! Hopefully someone from the Wattpad community will share what it's like over there one day for Shigadabi shippers, someone from DeviantArt, Tik Tok; someone with knowledge of the Shigadabi doujinshi genre!

I was considering making another section for popular headcanons since I kinda scattered my knowledge randomlykjfdjfk xD Any thoughts/opinions on easier organization? I'll be back to work on it periodically so hmu if you'd like to bounce ideas off one another!

You should sign and date your contributions on all talk pages by typing four tildes: (~~~~), which will yield something like: Username 19:36, 10 January 2006 (UTC). You can also click on the signature button that appears in the toolbar above the edit window when JavaScript is enabled.

On a talk page, "this page" usually refers to the main page (i.e. the page the talk page is associated with). If the talk page itself is referred to, write "this talk page".

When debating the name of the page or discussing merging it with another page, always mention the current page name. Otherwise after renaming (moving) a page, references to "this page name" become ambiguous.

The "Post a comment" feature (the tab labeled with a plus sign (+) at the top of a talk page in the default skin or "post a comment" in the side bar in the Classic skin) allows you to start a new section without needing to edit the whole page. The section header becomes the edit summary at the time you save the page, so there is no edit summary box displayed when you use this feature.

The practice of posting similar messages to more than a few users' talk pages, for example to solicit a certain action, is very strongly discouraged.

Naming

Hello again~ I'm not 100% sure how this Talk channel/page works, but wanted to start the conversation of the page's name because I've seen more and more, as I work on this page, the clear merit to having it be Shigadabi rather than following AO3's tag. I don't think another name for it is more popular or used in the fandom, though I do think that Eastern fans call them Dabishi. So, that was kinda my thinking in sticking with the general AO3 tag everyone will go to when reading, since it's formatted and less biased that way. We can also create a dedicated section to documenting the different ship names, giving its evolution and use the good ole meta treatment haha. But, again, I personally don't see anything other than Shigadabi bc of my specific POV and can understand the argument for it to be Shigadabi! I think that could be easily done, too!

I think most ships here on Fanlore are named after the character names to make it clear who the ship is discussing right off the bat. Most of the pages for ships have the character names rather than the portmanteau names. I have seen some exceptions though, like ZADR instead of Zim/Dib, probably for the same reason you mentioned (ZADR being overwhelmingly used rather than Zim/Dib). We could also consider using redirects from the portmanteau names linking to this page! But since I'm not the best expert at the categories here, I'll tag the talk page for gardeners to weigh in on it. Patchlamb (talk) 17:15, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you so much! :) That's incredibly helpful; I feel a lot better about my initial decision! I'm currently creating a Tumblr post to advertise the page and have been trying to get ahead of stuff haha. I redirected it but am going to mention on the post that there's a place for discussion if need be (I'm sure I'm just overthinking possible problems anyway)! Our approach with regard to naming pages on Fanlore is that the page should be named after whatever is most used by the fandom. In some cases that's not clear cut, and this section of Help:Relationship pages has some advice on things to bear in mind for choosing a page name. However, as Patchlamb has said, redirects for the other names can always be put in place, so that people can find the page whatever variant of the name they link or search for. But there's no particular need to stick to 'AO3' style ship names, which are a convention that is geared towards AO3's tagging system, if another name is more representative of what the fandom uses.

Ahh yeah I reread the definition after I'd gone like a TON into the creation of the page and am going back and forth on it now because yeah, the portmanteau is more representative (from what I see, but I'm just one) and I'm nervous making a definitive decision. x_x Hopefully the redirect is fine but I think if enough people want it the whole thing can be moved to Shigadabi by copy and paste or something, and this name can be the redirect?
