We have templates warning for rapey images, but we could use one for pages describing fanfics of the same nature. I made this page because discovering this horrible fic was part of my fandom coming of age and I imagine a lot of older Sailor Moon fans remember it well enough for it to be a badfic classic, but...it's REALLY bad. Slapping a trigger warning by the fic's link doesn't feel like enough. Sj2014 (talk)

The warning templates for images was for a specific policy that wasn't particularly popular, and the issue was specific to images, which are more visceral than text. Fics are not reproduced on Fanlore, but some fanart is. I think if we start adding warning templates to pages *about* fics it'll be difficult to know when to stop, especially in a climate where everything is getting called out as problematic. If there's a discussion about whether a fic was traumatic, it would be better to document it in the page than to have a blanket warning flag that lacks nuance.--aethel (talk) 15:21, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
I absolutely agree with aethel's statement. Add a section to the page about the fic's history, reception, and document fans' comments (both pro and con) instead of applying a warning to a page "about" a story. --MPH (talk) 16:06, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Good point, both of you. And fan comments will be forthcoming, I should be able to find plenty! Sj2014 (talk)
