Shut Up and Dance is a multifandom vid by MsTabularasa. It is a compilation of dancing footage from 89 films. It was widely praised for its timing and choice of clips.

The vid was posted to YouTube on March 1, 2015, and eventually went viral later that same month, this seemed to partly occur because the band WALK THE MOON, who wrote the song Shut Up and Dance, tweeted about it on March 3,[1] and the actor Mark Ruffalo shared it on his tumblr on March 12.[2] As of April 2019, the vid has over 8.5 million views.

YouTube user MsTabularasa has elevated the art of movie dancing supercuts with her elegantly assembled, perfectly timed celebration of cinematic movement. Set to Walk The Moon’s catchy “Shut Up And Dance,” the video manages to make it seem like the characters are actually dancing to the song while fitting in clips from over 80 different films

This movie dancing supercut is pretty fantastic, by Caroline Siede March 16, 2015, avclub.com

I am so wildly impressed by the human being who created these, for possessing what must be an infinite amount of cleverness and patience to make this work.

89 Iconic Movie Dances In One Epic Compilation Will Make You Want To Cancel Your Life And Watch All Of These Films, by Emma Lord March 17, 2015, bustle.com

The coolest thing about this supercut is its range: It has your classic dance flicks—Dirty Dancing, Center Stage, Footloose, Save the Last Dance, Flashdance, White Nights—and a number of movies you wouldn't automatically associate with dance. Like who'd have thought to include Perks of Being A Wallflower in a dance supercut? Or what about She's All That, or (500) Days of Summer? This supercut genius thought outside the box, and we're pretty pleased with the results.

As someone who has spent countless hours inside dark editing bays looking for the perfect beats, let me just say that this is one of the best-edited videos set to music I have ever seen. It is just incredibly on-point. Very nice work![3]

This is one of the most beautifully crafted music videos I've seen on this site. Every scene matched the beat, rhythm, tone, and mood of the song. This is what makes a great music video.[3]

I can't hear this song now without thinking about your video and I mean that as the highest form of compliment :)[3]

I've been a video editor for 24 years. I'm highly critical of compilation videos on YT (because they're so ubiquitous and most people just don't have a real knack for putting footage together.) This is absolutely one of the best I've yet seen. Not just because you sync all the flourishes really well, but because you actually cut the shots together to flow very well. It practically feels like the footage was shot with the intention of being cut together this way. That says a lot for your skills. Congratulations on a video very well done. I just finally watched the band's official video and I like yours way better. Kudos! Keep up the good work.[3]

This video always makes me smile. Thank you for creating such a beautiful uplifting video!![3]
