Shang Qinghua is a supporting character from the danmei novel The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System.

Canon

Shang Qinghua was originally from modern China, where he wrote a "stallion" harem/power fantasy novel called Proud Immortal Demon Way (PIDW), starring Luo Binghe as the overpowered protagonist. While reading a comment from his most dedicated hate-commenter Peerless Cucumber (aka Shen Yuan), the author dies and is reborn as a child version of a character named Shang Qinghua from his novel. This character was a peak lord of the Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, and also a spy working for the demon king Mobei-jun, who ultimately perished in PIDW at Mobei-jun's hands.

The transmigrated Shang Qinghua is forced to follow the main PIDW plotline by an entity called the System, but attempts to avoid this predestined death by pledging to serve Mobei-jun (his 'ideal man') for the rest of his life. When he meets Shen Yuan, who transmigrated as the character Shen Qingqiu, the two of them work together to try avoiding both their bad ends from the novel. However, simply by transmigrating and not being the original characters, they have already changed the course of the novel by that point.

Fanon and Common Tropes in Fanworks

  • Names: Both Shang Qinghua's original name from before his transmigration and the name the character Shang Qinghua had prior to becoming a peak lord are unknown, so various headcanon names are used for the character, or a brief explanation might be given for why the author gave this character his own IRL name.
  • Deityhood: Many fanworks explore the idea of Shang Qinghua being the god of the world he created.
  • Hamsters: Shang Qinghua is regularly compared to or portrayed as a hamster in fanworks.
  • Logistics: Shang Qinghua is the peak lord of An Ding peak, which is the peak responsible for Cang Qiong's logistics. Fanworks explore how this could mean he is uniquely able to acquire necessarily supplies and keep Cang Qiong running, to the point where his absence might make Cang Qiong fall apart. Shang Qinghua will also often use these skills for Mobei-jun's benefit in the Northern Desert, keeping his palace and kingdom up and running efficiently.
