Shang Qinghua/Shen Yuan | Shen Qingqiu, more commonly referred to in fandom by the portmanteau Cumplane, is a ship between the two modern-world characters in the The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System fandom. It rose to popularity from Twitter threadfic in 2021 but was first used as a name by user @Dipuc_ (aka Tom) on Discord in 2020, who shortened it from the previously used Cucumberplane.

Common Tropes in Fanworks

• Sugar Daddy AU - Pre-transmigration, Shang Qinghua is poor and pumping out as many words of his webnovel Proud Immortal Demon Way as he can to make end meet. Shen Yuan is often portrayed as the sickly, shut-in son of a wealthy family, and is canonically obsessed with Proud Immortal Demon Way as a "hate reader". In some No Transmigration AUs, Shen Yuan finds out Shang Qinghua's financial situation and is appalled that the author of the webnovel he loves to hate is in financial straights. He then inadvertently becomes Shang Qinghua's sugar daddy to enable him to realize his artistic vision.
• Internalized Homophobia - Shen Qingqiu is entirely oblivious to the fact that he likes men, and comfortably considers himself a straight, red-blooded man. In order for him to be in a relationship with Shang Qinghua, Shen Qingqiu has to confront the fact that he's not straight and that he wants to be in a relationship with a man.

• Scum Sisky's Cumplane Threadfic Cumplilation by cleromancy (Sisky). AU where Airplane notices Peerless Cucumber's tweet, "Airplane, I will pay all your bills forever if you hire a goddamn editor, you hack." and replies, on fucking main, "you fucking prommy?" and lands himself an editor and a sugar-gege all in one go. Originally a threadfic, popularized the Cumplane smooshname and pairing. The first tweet was posted on September 22, 2021. The compilation fic was published October 3, 2021.
