Luo Binghe is a main character in the danmei novel The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System.

Canon

Luo Binghe is originally the protagonist of a "stallion" harem/power fantasy novel called Proud Immortal Demon Way (PIDW), which Shen Yuan, the main character of Scum Villain, reads and transmigrates into. In the original plot of the novel, Luo Binghe is mistreated by his shizun Shen Qingqiu, is revealed as half Heavenly Demon and thrown into a place called the Endless Abyss, returns with a powerful sword called Xin Mo, conquers the demon realm and the cultivation world, ends up with a harem of thousands, and wreaks a bloody revenge on Shen Qingqiu.

Luo Binghe's original path is redirected when Shen Yuan transmigrates into the role of Shen Qingqiu when Luo Binghe is fourteen and has been somewhat mistreated but not yet fully 'blackened.' Shen Yuan as Shen Qingqiu begins to treat Luo Binghe better, and Luo Binghe develops feelings for his shizun. Due to the intervention of an entity called 'the System,' Luo Binghe is still cast into the Endless Abyss by Shen Qingqiu, but while Shen Qingqiu assumes the same revenge killing from the novel is still coming for him, Luo Binghe does not return with the intent he expects. He also is uninterested in creating the harem his original version did - instead all of his desire is now focused on Shen Qingqiu.

The version of Luo Binghe from the original novel can be referred to as 'Bing-ge' while the version that the transmigrated Shen Qingqiu treated kindly is conversely referred to as 'Bing-mei.'

Fanon and Common Tropes in Fanworks

  • Cooking: Binghe is an excellent cook, which is one of the ways he seduced brides in the original novel. Fanworks often feature him cooking for Shen Qingqiu.
  • Demon Blood: As a Heavenly Demon, Luo Binghe's blood has many magical properties including the ability to harm, heal, and locate those who ingest it. All of these abilities are frequently used as plot devices in fanworks.
  • Xin Mo: Part of the reason the original Luo Binghe had such an extensive harem and conquered so much of the world is that his sword Xin Mo needs to be sated with sex and/or violence, and it exerts influence over its wielder to get what it wants. Fanworks explore the extent of Xin Mo's control, and also often include Xin Mo being destroyed or contained.

  • Fanon Appearance: Binghe isn't given a detailed description in the novel and fanartists have put their own twists onto his appearance. One notable feature of the English-language fandom is a prevalence of Luo Binghe with curly hair, possibly originating in this post by zeldacw, who said they drew him this way because Shen Qingqiu kept calling him a sheep.[1]
There was a youth wearing black clothing, carrying an unadorned long sword on his back. His face was like jade, and his eyes like cold stars glittering in two deep pools as he strolled closer. He had grown a lot and his temperament was also substantially different compared to before, but … this face that could grace the cover of a romance novel from any angle … even if he was beaten to death, Shen Qingqiu would never mistake it!
