Shane Walsh/Lori Grimes is the het pairing of Shane Walsh and Lori Grimes from The Walking Dead fandom.
As a Caregiver, she is ultimately driven by what is best for her family. In Rick's absence, Shane offers the protection and stability that she and Carl need; Lori's acceptance is both understandable and logical. Shane is a Warrior—he will do what he must for those under his care.Love and Marriage in the Time of The Walking Dead - Amanda Taylor

TV Series
Believing her husband, Rick, to be dead, Lori and Shane begin a romantic relationship. When Rick turns up alive, and is reunited with Lori and their son Carl, Lori ends her relationship with Shane. At the beginning of Season 2 Lori discovers she is pregnant, and is unsure of who the father is. Throughout the season Shane constantly questions Rick's ability to protect Lori and Carl, feeling that he would be a better husband and father. Near the end of Season 2 Shane plans to murder Rick, but Rick acts first, killing Shane.
Fandom
Common Tropes in Fanworks
- Love Triangle: a story element held over from canon
- Threesome: almost always involving Rick Grimes, occasionally portrayed as a poly relationship (Grimalsh)
- Missing Scenes: missing scenes from the time Shane and Lori where together and thought Rick was dead
- No Zombie Apocalypse AU: usually involving Lori and Rick divorcing, and Lori and Shane being together
- Side Pairing: A featured secondary pairing in stories that focus on Rick or Carl
Controversies
- Timing: The timing of Shane and Lori's relationship was seen as inappropriate, considering they got together shortly after Rick's supposed death. Some fans interpreted this as Lori cheating on her husband.[2] However, there have been accusations of misogyny, because most of the fan rage was directed at Lori and not Shane.[1]
- Attempted rape: In the final episode of Season 1 Shane confronts Lori about their relationship, he forces a kiss upon Lori and attempts to instantiate sex, which Lori resists. Some felt this characterization of Shane was incorrect, and that the scene served no purpose. Although its been pointed out that this could be the beginning of the dark path Shane's story line goes down in season 2.[3]
