Why Remus and Sirius?

I have detailed this many times in my journal, as well as in emails and guestbook entries to those who were curious, or who have--unfortunately--flamed me. Many people ask, "Why do you see Remus and Sirius together?" or have shouted, "They're not gay!"

Let me start by saying that I don't neccessarily see the two of them as "gay". I see them as Remus-sexual and Sirius-sexual. That may sound weird, but I believe that labeling things as black or white is often times being far too narrow minded.

Many have argued that we are warping Rowling's obviously straight characters. However, nowhere in the books does it ever imply that the two are straight. In fact, we get no glimpse whatsoever into their private lives. And one can assume that due to Sirius' recent escape from prison, and Remus' lycanthropic condition, neither of the two have a girlfriend or wife.

There are very subtle hints that could leave one to believe that Remus and Sirius could possibly be involved romantically--in some form or another--with each other. I will detail just a few of them here:

Remus and Sirius were very close childhood friends. Remus really only had the other three Marauders for companionship, and they were the only ones who truly knew his condition and understood him for what and who he was. Now that the other two are gone, Sirius alone is the only person who fully understands and accepts Remus. The two of them have a shared history of pain, regret and betrayal. They've suffered the same losses and have experienced similar triumphs. Their history bonds them together in a way that is unbreakable. Wolves often times mate for life. In many stories, so do werewolves. I tend to think that if this is the case, Remus would not wish to endanger anyone by "forcing" them to commit themself to him forever, especially when he can't bring himself to admit his condition. Sirius, being the only one really (aside from a select few, and now, all of Hogwarts--damn Snape!) who knows of his condition, and who doesn't care that he's a "monster" once a month, would most likely be the only real candidate Remus has. That's not to say he couldn't find love with another, but this relationship just makes sense. It is never stated in the books (at least so far) whether the animagus chooses the animal, or the animal chooses the animagus, but whatever the case, Sirius' animal is a canine. Out of all of the animals he could have transformed into, it happened to be the one closest to the wolf. It seems they were meant to run together under the full moon. Sirius is like the yin to Remus' yang. They are opposites in many things--their temperment, their appearance, etc., and yet, they are the same deep down, where it really counts. They balance one another out very nicely. Yes, a hug is just a hug, but several little clues throughout PoA lead us to believe that there might possibly be something more between them. They are so fiercely protective of one another in the Shrieking Shack, and that embrace they share--while brief--seems to hold greater emotion. Remus' wolf is symbolized by the moon, and Sirius' by the stars. Sounds like a match made in the heavens. It is a wonderful thought that after all this time, the two can find much needed solace in one another's arms. Fate has given them a second chance, and I believe they would embrace it for all it's worth.

I am not asking anyone to agree or disagree with me. I know my views may be a bit twisted at times, but really, all of these stories and the artwork here are fiction. It isn't real. It's just one interpretation of many. I'm not asking you to believe that this was Rowling's intent for the two men. It may be, it may not be. That is yet to be seen, if ever.

I am asking however, that you keep an open mind if you decide to peruse the pages within. If you truly believe that a loving relationship between two men is gross or wrong or immoral, then please do not torture yourself by viewing content that depicts these situations. There is plenty of other stuff on the site for you to enjoy, such as the general fan art or fanfiction.

 "To Give You the Moon"
 It's Valentine's Day, and there is more than one person who is not "feeling the love" with all of the pink hearts and flowers. This story is the result of a challenge set by Thwart on the SB/RL mailing list. There is a "myth" called Lupercalia--believed by ancient Romans to be the day when wolves choose their mate. The challenge? To write about this supposed holiday and just how Remus Lupin will choose his mate.
