To reboot a serialized fiction franchise means to discard much or even all previous canon in the series and start over with new ideas.[1] If a fandom had formed around the original version, fans are likely to object to the changes in the reboot. However, depending on how successful the reboot is, it may develop a fandom of its own (who may object to the classic fans' objections).
Due to the long-running and highly complex narratives in superhero comics, comics fandoms are frequently subjected to reboots.
