Phantom Planet is an American rock band. Their best-known single, "California", was the theme song for The O.C. starting in 2003. They were signed to Fueled by Ramen from 2007 to 2008, making them associated with Bandom.
The band's current members are Alex Greenwald (lead singer), Sam Farrar (bass), Darren Robinson (lead guitar), and Jeff Conrad (drums). Jason Schwartzman and Jacques Brautbar were founding members.
Frontman Alex Greenwald is commonly shipped with Taylor Hanson of Hanson and Ryan Ross of Panic! At the Disco/The Young Veins.
Fanfiction about the band as a whole is rare. There was some on FanDomination.Net, which had 14 Phantom Planet stories published from 2002 to 2003. As of 2023, there are 42 Phantom Planet works on Archive of Our Own, and all are considered crossovers.
