Negan is a fictional character from the comic book series The Walking Dead and is portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the AMC television series of the same name.

Negan is ... the nightmare a straight, conservative man might conjure: a man who sexually humiliates you while also vying for your wife and kids.[1]

Negan is introduced in Season 6, episode 16. The Saviors capture Rick's group. Negan kills two of their members, Abraham and Glenn, for retribution for attacks on the Saviors and to bring them under his control. Under Negan the survivors must give the Saviors half of everything they produce. Rick tries to follow orders, but after Negan kills two more members of their group, Spencer and Olivia, Rick begins to agree with others that they should fight back. At the end of Season 7 All Out War breaks out between the Saviors and the Alexandria, Hilltop and Kingdom groups.

Controversies

  • Negan's wives: there is some debate among fans about whether Negan's relationship with his wives is contractual rape. Some fans argue that Negan does not force himself upon women and they can deny his overtures. However, others have pointed put that Negan controls all the resources and he manipulates the women who need these resources into a sexual relationship with him.[3][4]
