"Mpingo" is Swahili for "ebony." The editor, Winston Howlett, writes: "Actually, I wanted to call it 'Ebony Prince Press,' but 'Ebony Prince' in Swahili is 'Mpingo Mwanawa Mfalme,' I figured we'd better keep things short and sweet." [1]
