Louis Russell Chauvenet was a member of First Fandom best known for originating the word fanzine in a 1940 issue of his zine Detours. According to Harry Warner, Jr., he also coined the word prozine, but the exact source of the claim is disputed.[1]
Chauvenet was also a founding member of The Stranger Club of Boston, and one of the three founders of the National Fantasy Fan Federation along with Damon Knight and Art Widner. He was president of the NFFF in 1941 and 1942.
