Detours was a science fiction zine published by Louis Russell Chauvenet in two series, one issued through FAPA in 1940 and a later revival that lasted from 1976 to 1998. It is best known for containing the first use of the word "fanzine", which Chauvenet introduced in 1940 as a protest against Ray J. Sinkiewicz's recent suggestion of "fanag" as a short version of "fan mag".
Reviews
In Detours, we liked most the quiz, which gives first & last sentences from five favorite fantasies; you're supposed to match them up. A discussion of difference between bandeux and brassieres is not without interest.Harry Warner, Jr.: Harry Warner's Views. Fantasy Fiction Field #6 pp 2-3. Nov 1940.
