Liam Payne/Louis Tomlinson, also known as Lilo, is the pairing of One Direction band members Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne. It is the fifth largest slash pairing on Archive of Our Own for the band.[1]
Liam and Louis canonically started out as adversaries and did not get along due to their personal differences.[2] However, this changed, and the two now cowrite songs together, and are the directors of the company that own 5 Seconds of Summer.[3][4]

Liam and Louis are known for their banter, teasing, inside jokes, and ultimately, deep fondness for each other. Interpretations of these canon personalities and interactions can lead to tropes like Didn't Know They Were Dating or Pretend Couple.
In fics, Liam is often portrayed as the straightman to Louis' funnyman, often frustrated with Louis' inability to take things seriously, and eventually loosening up himself and joining Louis. These fics focus on the canon-supported idea that Liam was at first uncomfortable with or confused by Louis and Louis' personal brand of affection and humor, and that after spending time with each other, Liam learned to be comfortable with it. (As Zayn says in This Is Us, "we've corrupted him.") It is important to note, however, that though Liam says he "literally wanted to whack" Louis during their time on the X-Factor, they were never shown to be actually mean or antagonistic to each other.
Liam and Louis were also, at least in the early days of the band, known as the "leaders" of the group - Louis because he is the oldest, and handled business; Liam because he was the most sensible and driven.
