The ship is similar to the other popular Dangan Ronpa protagonist/rival pairings: Naegi x Togami from Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Saihara x Ouma from Dangan Ronpa V3: Killing Harmony. Although both of the mentioned pairings are the most common BL ships in their entries' fandoms, Trigger Happy Havoc's is Ishimaru x Mondo instead.
