Katrina Bowen started out in due South fandom in the mid-'90s, and was active on both the discussion and fiction mailing lists. She started out writing gen, and when she dipped her toes in slash, began (openly) using a different name on her stories, "Buffy" (this was pre-BtVS).

She moved into The Sentinel fandom in the late '90s, where she was active on multiple mailing lists, including Senad, SXF, and later Prospect-L, and was part of the loose Trickster crowd of fans who had websites on the Trickster server. She didn't bring the "Buffy" pseud with her to TS; she used Katrina on all her stories and list posts.

Also in the late '90s, Katrina wrote a handful of slash stories for The Tick (cartoon version).

After TS, she wrote briefly in Firefly fandom,[1] then largely drifted away from active fannish pursuits.

Her website was lost during a server crash on Trickster, and never recovered.

See The Divine Adoratrice's World o'Fanfic which includes links to both The Nonsensical Ravings of a Lunatic Mind (short meta), Apologia (meta, reasons for unsubscribing from SXF), and Frequently Asked Questions about the Divine Adoratrice.

Regarding Pseud

What's in a pseudonym?

What, you think it says "Divine Adoratrice" on my driver's license? Don't be silly. It's on my Social Security card, that's all.

Okay, okay. I post to mailing lists and archives under my real name, and I publish in zines that way (unless I'm being Buffy, who is explained later). If you go to any of the archives where I have stories, that's how I'm listed. But for my Geocities page, I chose a pseud -- even though the various archives probably get a lot more hits than I do, thereby being more of a risk. Why don't I use my real name here? I honestly don't know.

A few people have told me that they admire me for having the courage to post slash under my own name. I hate to break it to them, but it had nothing to do with courage. It's because I was too dumb to stop and think about the consequences. You know... consequences. Family. Co-workers. Neighbors. Inevitably, someone I know will stumble across what I write, and damn if I know how I'm going to deal with it.

And, revealed at last... "The Divine Adoratrice" was the official title of the high priestess of Amon in Egyptian religion. I chose the name because (a) I've never seen anything even vaguely similar as a pseud, (b) "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is too long, and (c) the woman could kick some serious ass. (Look for a book called "Uppity Women of Ancient Times" for a brief history.)[2]

Fan Comments

Katrina Bowen's Page: Oh, and watch out when you go here because it's also the home of the notorious Buffy. Katrina's general and slash due South fiction is here in very nice organized lists. Her series are separated and listed in sequential order which makes it a very easy place for readers to visit. Prepare yourself for some good reading and go there.[3]
