Invictus is a Starsky & Hutch story by Terri Beckett.

It was published in Three-Eleven #2. It was also previously published in Enigma #1 in 1981.

This story was discussed in a 1988 essay printed in Tell Me Something I Don't Know! #11. The topic was how death stories could be used to explore different emotions in fanfiction. Some examples were Whom Death Could Not Part, Nighthorse, Delivered to Thee, It's Always Toughest, Invictus, Mojave Crossing, and Goliath.

Reactions and Reviews

In keeping with my ambiguity theme, here is another Starsky and Hutch fic that could swing either way, as it were. It's a death fic, and kind of short, but again the quality of the writing and the pure love between the guys shines through in every word. [1]

Here, S&H meet Death together in a hailstorm of bullets and die at almost the same moment. What makes these [types of death stories] easy to accept is the Love and Devotion that separates Starsky and Hutch from all other cop-relationship TV series' that have ever been on the screen, past-present-or future! [2]

The three ’death’ stories – ‘Coda,’ ‘It’s Always Toughest,’ and ‘Invictus’ were all well-done and moving, but ‘Invictus’ was probably the best written. It’s also the hardest and most painful to read, with its gritty realism. [3]

Favorites: Past Imperfect, Invictus... rave rave. [4]
