High Steppin' Trekkies was a Star Trek: TOS fan club out of San Jose, CA.
It, among other things, published a newsletter, and the zine Return of Charlie X.
In 1976, according to a listing in the Star Trek Lives! program book, it had 23 members.
"National Outpost"
This club was the "mother ship," or "National Outpost," for a couple of smaller, satellite clubs in other part parts of the country.
From the zine Cosmic Borders, a 1976 publication of one of these "outposts":
I would like to thank our Secretary, Liz Schwarber for her enthusiasm and great help in getting OUTPOST TWO started. In addition to the National Outpost of HIGH STEPPIN' TREKKIES, there is now Outpost 1 in California, and Outpost 3 which is starting in New York under the able direction of Lloyd Lawrence, so it is obvious that HST is a growing organization.
About the Club
From a flyer:
Are you a Trekkie? Have you decided what area you're going to participate in the Star Trek scene? STAR is strickly [sic] a revival group, the STW is a dedicated info center, the ST Archives not only do that, but they help the less fortunate too. How would you like to try all of those things and also get involved in other Star Trek activities? High Steppin' Trekkies is forming a Star Trek club that is going to do a lot of the above things mentioned. We're also going to be doing our own original and unusual happenings too. If you're a member you'll probably be participating in HST membership day. You get discounts on most of HST's merchandise, including our fanzine and other fine literary works. We'll even get together and help you make your starfleet uniform. Most of all we'll unite on a letter campaign to NBC telling them to bring back Star Trek. Or at least tell them to put the animated version on at a more serious time.
