G.H.T. was a fan club for George Takei based in England.

It was founded and run by Mrs. Ena Glogowska for thirteen years. The vice president was Marian Kennedy. They were assisted by Margaret Bertram and Sheila Cornall.

In 1996, Jackie Edwards became president, and the title of the club became George Takei's Official World Wide.

Like a number of Star Trek fan clubs, while this one was an "official" one authorized by George Takei, it was non-profit and fan-run.

From the first issue: "Have you noticed how many "GHT" words there are? G.H.T." is a briGHT club, the riGHT club, a deliGHTful club."

Its Beginning

The editor wrote about the beginning of the club in the first anniversary issue of G.H.T. Journal in December 1983:

Its difficult to decide when exactly "G.H.T." came into being. Perhaps it was when the first member joined. Or when the Welcome Book was completed and sent out. Or was it when George gave his permission to have a club in Britain? I feel that it really got started in November [1982], and that makes the club a Scorpio subject, with Mars as its ruling planet. Topaz as its birth stone, and "Paper or Clocks as its anniversary symbol.

[...]

But as for a definite Birth Day I haven't a clue. Whenever it was, George had no club in his honour in Britain or Europe, and he was pleased to have one there. It was decided at that time that "GHT" would cater for fans on this side of the Atlantic, and not American ones, as they already had Mae Sanchez running The George Takei International Fan Club, and Cathy Bayne running Hosato. This was at George's suggestion, and I have kept to it. [1]
