Feemor is a minor character from Star Wars. He can be considered a fandom blank slate.
Canon
Feemor appears in the first issue of Jedi—The Dark Side, a Legends comic from 2011 and is mentioned elsewhere. He is Qui-Gon Jinn's first padawan. In the comic he duels his former master and Qui-Gon's current padawan, Xanatos. After losing the duel he's mocked by Xanatos, in part for his background as a farmer's child.
Fandom
Feemor first appeared in legends material in 2011 but didn't pick up steam in the fandom until later.
The first fic featuring his character on AO3[1] appears to have been published in 2012.[2] A handful of fics were published in the next few years with interest seeming to pick up significantly from 2020 on.[3] He is most commonly seen in communities and among fans who enjoy focusing on the pre-Prequels period. As of December 2023 Feemor is tagged in over 500 fics on AO3.[4]
Common Tropes and Fanon
Many tropes seek to explain Feemor's absence from the rest of canon despite his being at least tangentially connected to multiple important characters.
- Fanon Name - Feemor is the only name he's given in official materials, some fans prefer this. Other fans use a variety of fanon surnames some include: Gard, Stahl, etc.
- Jedi Shadow - With little known about his duties as a Jedi Knight some enjoy portraying Feemor as a Shadow.
- Temple Guard - Similar to portraying Feemor as a Shadow, some enjoy him as a Temple Guard.
- Padawans - Sometimes Feemor is given an OC as a padawan, a common alternative in some AUs is to replace Qui-Gon with Feemor as Obi-Wan's master.
- Repudiation - Qui-Gon rejecting his former student after Xanatos' fall is often the source of angst and hurt/comfort.
- Force Blank Feemor - Relatively uncommon is portraying Feemor as a Force Blank, difficult to remember and sense in the Force.
Shipping
Feemor's ships are generally rarepairs with characters he's never interacted with in canon, gen pairings are much more common.
