Particularly Tropey Fic

Hey! I'm creating this list on the Talk page because although I can and will add many of these as trope examples on the Google Doc, I thought I'd make a list of fic that just contain ~a lot~ of tropes in general (e.g. longfic with lots of worldbuilding) so that a, I don't have to repeat them as often and b, other folks can take a look at them and identify things that might be trope examples that I don't know about, because I have no idea if they're a wider trend or just That One Author.

Tropey HP Fics

  • This Means War by Jeconais - Oh my God, so many tropes in this fic. (I love this fic, by the way, it's ridiculous but so much fun). Super!Harry, Sirius Lives, redeemable!Snape (and a bunch of other characters including Dudley, Bellatrix, Narcissa, Draco - pretty much everyone is redeemable in this fic except for Voldemort. And I think Pettigrew and Lucius). Manipulative!Dumbledore (but he's redeemed as well, sort of). Pre-HBP, so contains a lot of tropes specific to the post-OotP era. Also contains some interesting stuff about magic and the wards around Hogwarts, and also MMail - a type of magical email. Not sure if this is a general trope, but it was borrowed from another fic, Naked Quidditch Match (appears to now be offline).
  • The Boys of Crowhill by tb_ll57 - Harry grows up in an orphanage, and then Remus takes him in, so I think it counts as "raised by Lupin". Somewhat manipulative!Dumbledore. Lots of canon divergence magical worldbuilding, especially around pure-blood families, celebrating Yule/winter solstice, and more. I didn't finish this fic, so there are probably other tropes in there that I haven't encountered.
  • Pretty much anything by dirgewithoutmusic (ink-splotch) - Slytherin!Harry, Ravenclaw!Harry, Squib!Harry, Hufflepuff!Harry, raised-by-anyone-you-can-think-of, redeemable!Snape, Various Characters Live (While Others Die Tragically), etc. etc.
I second dirgewithoutmusic! All of their stuff is really written. Highly recommended. RubyPhoenix (talk)
