Canon
Dustin Henderson is one of the main characters on Stranger Things.
Aged 12 in season 1, he is an original member of "The Party." In Season 2, he bonds with older teen Steve Harrington, with whom he has become fast friends by season 3. He also acquires a girlfriend, Suzie. In Season 4, he is shown as close with Eddie Munson, who dies in his arms at the end of the season.
Showrunners the Duffer Brothers have announced that Eddie's death would affect Dustin the most in S5.
Dustin is an endearing know-it-all character.
Fandom
Dustin is usually a side character in fanworks.
After the post-season 4 boom in the fandom, largely driven by the popularity of juggernaut ship Steve/Eddie, Dustin appeared in many fanworks as both Steve and Eddie's confidante. He is often instrumental in bringing the two together, and several Outsider POV stories exist from Dustin's pov where he puts the relationship together.
