Despicable Me is an American 3D computer-animated comedy film series from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.
Canon
Felonious Gru, a supervillain who adopts three girls (Margo, Edith, and Agnes) from an orphanage. In the first film: a rival of Gru, Victor "Vector" Perkins, steals the Great Pyramid of Giza and Gru plans to shrink and steal the Earth's moon.
Minions, little yellow alien-looking guys are Gru's sidekicks through out the films. The 2015 prequel movie titled Minions focuses on them before they met Gru.
Fandom
Minions are often used as animated gifs or in memes to express emotions or feels.
Crossovers are fairly common, especially with other animated films such as The Incredibles and Megamind.
