Clark Kent is a minor character in the Supergirl (TV series) and the overall Arrowverse.
Canon
Although Clark was referenced and had implied appearances (aka silhouette) due to the show wanting to focus solely on Kara's journey, Clark/Superman doesn't make a full debut until the Season 2 and has been a recurring character since. He's best friends with Jimmy Olsen and he is in a serious relationship with Lois Lane. He makes his first appearances on Arrow and The Flash in the Elseworlds crossover event.
Fandom
Since the beginning of the Supergirl (TV series), fans often used parallels to show the similarities between Kara Danvers and Clark Kent (often from other Superman fandoms such as Superman 2). The character often appeared as a background character or sometimes secondary character in fanfiction set within Supergirl's universe and the rest of the Arrowverse, often piggybacking on his comicsverse history or other Superman fandoms namely Man of Steel/DCU and Smallville. Due to the lack of the physical presence/screentime of Superman in Season 1, there were a few fanworks that focused solely on Clark/Superman's journey before Kara/Supergirl.
In fanart, fans often used Henry Cavill (who portrayed him in the DCU) in photomanips/gifs/other artwork before Tyler Hoechlin was cast as Clark in Season 2, although there were fancasts as well.
Shipping
Although primarily shipped with Lois Lane, Clark has also been shipped with Kara Danvers, Chloe Sullivan, Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne (even though Bruce has yet to make an appearance).
