So we already have a category for Buffy and Angel fanfic combined: Category:Buffyverse Fanfiction. I don't know if editors have a new system, but IIRC, the reason for combining a lot of Buffy and Angel categories originally was that the same characters appear on both shows, so having separate categories could get messy.--aethel (talk) 23:45, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Just looking at the two categories there and I had the same thought. The original editor might not have spotted that there was a Buffyverse fanfic category, or there could be a reason they wanted to separate these fics out. - With every other thing we turn from more general categories to more specific categories, except for these two shows. I think if the fansites and the stories and the authors and vids and artists can differenciate between the two fandoms, so can we. Just because some of the characters have appeared in both shows it doesn't mean you can't tell which show a specific story or vid belongs to. Sure, some might belong to both, but a lot of them don't and the chance to find them under their specific fandom category are much better. Also, AO3 seems to manage just fine:

- Looking at the history of that page, it seems the Buffyverse fic category was started back in 2013. Not too sure how the wiki was organised back then, and the reasoning behind the decision isn't documented on that page or the main Buffy category. Interestingly there is a separate category for Angel vids! If we want to go forward with the two categories, it might be worth trawling through the Buffyverse fic category, as some of the works in there would technically be Buffy only fics. Then we would probably need a separate Angel fic category..? I'll leave this discussion here, and I won't make any organisational changes just yet. --Auntags (talk) 23:18, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
