Captain Flint is a fictional character in Robert Louis Stevenson's book Treasure Island. He also appears in other books, TV and movie adaptions of Treasure Island. Captain Flint is also a main character in Starz's TV series Black Sails, which is a prequel to the original novel.

In the Starz TV series, Captain Flint is portrayed by Toby Stephens. The character is revealed to be a former British naval officer fleeing scandal and tragedy in England with his companion, the mysterious Mrs. Barlow.
His former name is James McGraw. He developed a romantic relationship with the married Mrs. Miranda Hamilton and her husband, Thomas Hamilton. When their unconventional relationship was uncovered, James and Miranda fled but Thomas was imprisoned and later died. James took the name Flint and avenged Thomas by killing his father. Miranda adopted the name Mrs. Barlow.
In season 1 of Black Sails, Flint is determined to seize a Spanish treasure galleon whose wealth could establish Nassau's independence and protect the small pirate community from British and Spanish colonial rule. His efforts to complete Thomas Hamilton's vision for a prosperous Nassau, has tragic consequences for Flint personally.
