COUNTER/Weight is the second season of the TTRPG actual-play podcast Friends at the Table. Hosted by GM Austin Walker, it features players Ali Acampora, Jack de Quidt, Keith J. Carberry, Art Martinez-Tebbel, Sylvi Bullet, and Andrew Lee Swan. While it aired between 2015 and 2016, the season remains popular with Friends at the Table fans. Its characters, for example, are frequently requested and offered in the fandom's annual gift exchange, Secret Samol.

Canon

COUNTER/Weight is a cyber-noir/giant mecha/space opera story set in the distant future that follows the adventures of a group of freelance mercenaries known as the Chime. Per the season's page on FatTWiki:

It draws aesthetic cues from noir, mecha anime, and cyberpunk, and focuses on themes of capitalism, the exploitation of pop culture, and the construction of political symbols.

The canon of COUNTER/Weight is followed by sequel seasons Twilight Mirage, PARTIZAN, and PALISADE. Thirty thousand years of canon time separate COUNTER/Weight from the earliest of these sequels.

Footnotes

  1. ^ a b While AuDy and Cassander's pronouns were meant to be they/them, the show's cast frequently referred to both characters as he/him throughout the season. This was later acknowledged by the cast as a failing of the season, and was rectified in a prequel special that aired in early 2024.
