Arthur spends a summer with Merlin in Ealdor. This canon verse fic was rageprufrock's first Merlin story and she posted it a few days before she posted the first part of her Drastically Redefining Protocol AU. It was also the first story she posted to LJ after originally moving to her own blog during her time in SGA fandom.

"Honestly, I always have somewhat mixed feelings about Pru's work. I love her stories, and the many crack-y premises she comes up with, but I don't love her character voices. She has this tendency to write her characters as sort of OOC histrionic shouters. This works fine for me when I'm reading any story featuring Rodney McKay, but I like it less in a BBC character. I'm still reccing this though because regardless of my preference for a different style of dialogue, I always love the emotional core of Pru's stories, and this one is not different. It’s Hunith’s birthday and Merlin wants to visit her. Arthur being Arthur decides he wants to send Hunith some gifts. Merlin refuses to take them to Ealdor, so Arthur goes with him. There Merlin confesses about his magic and Arthur reacts the only way it would be proper, by silencing him with a kiss and some sexy times ensue! Adorable and slow burning story. I love Hunith in this![5]
I want to curl up in that fic and never come out. Arthur in Ealdor fixing fences and Hunith’s roof and just being so Arthur is maybe one of my favourite thing in canon fics. There needs to be more. Merlin goes back to Ealdor to visit Hunith for his birthday and Arthur goes with him. He spoils her rotten, chats with the villagers, and there’s a nice magic reveal. Also: Arthur being taken care of by Hunith like the mother he never had, and Merlin teasing him about being unable to make bread, and Arthur making sure everyone’s safe, and Merlin revealing his secrets… all of it is just so fucking lovely and domestic and still tied to events in series 1 and I loved every moment of it.[6]
