Some Excerpts
I've been writing as far back as I can remember. My first actual fanfic was a collaboration between a friend and myself in the 8th grade, when we wrote Star Wars stories and inserted ourselves as the love interests for Han and Luke. I started out in fandom in 1996, writing and posting Janeway/Chakotay fic on the alt.startrek.fic board. Shortly thereafter I discovered slash, and that was that: slasher for life.I started out in SPN fandom about midway through S1 (which means that SPN has the…honor…of being my longest-lasting fandom thus far). I kept seeing references all over my flist about "Wincest" and "Sam/Dean", and finally broke down and begged around until I found someone who could upload the aired eps for me. I devoured all 12 or 14 of them in the span of a weekend, and was ready when "Shadow" aired the following Tuesday. I wrote my first ficlet immediately after, a little coda to the episode, with Sam and Dean taking care of each other, patching each other up.
While I like to read most all genres, to varying degrees, I primarily write slash. Sam and Dean are my OTP, forever and ever, thank you. *g* I've also noticed a trend in my writing: domestic schmoop (often with a side of kink, go figure). I like reading darker stuff, but when I'm writing I keep coming back to "happily ever after", or at least some variation of it. I guess the bodice-ripper romance-story reader in me always wants them to have a happy ending, even if they're nearly killed getting there.
I love exploring how different characters would approach different situations, be it an introduction to a new kink, forced retirement, relating to children, or whatever. I love trying on new lives and new livelihoods with characters, to see what fits and what doesn't. Atmosphere is important to me, too. Using a particular word or phrase to evoke a stronger response is a challenge I really enjoy. I want the reader to feel immersed in the story.
.I'll admit straight out that I was intrigued by a show where the two leads were brothers, but gave off such strong "together" signals. I have...I guess it's an incest kink, of sorts, anyway -- I totally blame VC Andrews for that -- so I might've gone into SPN with a bit of a skew toward that anyway. But lord, they really have incredible chemistry.Writing Sam/Dean has never been difficult for me, probably because of that chemistry. They just mesh so well together that even before the writers started pushing at that 4th wall, we could see the "erotic codependency". I mean, I have a sister--and as much as I love my sister, there is no way in hell I would go to Hell for her.
I plan to keep writing them :)
