Argyle is a fanwriter active in multiple mainly small fandoms. As of 2013, Argyle's LiveJournal is the best and most up-to-date archive resource for this writer's nuanced, eclectic work. She remains most active in Good Omens fandom, where she is a yearly participant and an assistant to the mod team in the Good Omens Exchange along with irisbleufic and Vulgarweed. Her elegant, measured prose is characterized by moments of wistfulness and humor in equal measure.
Reception
Little commentary exists for Argyle in rec lists, but what's out there is mainly concerned with her Good Omens fic:
"My favorite writer in the fandom [...], as her work is, without fail, intelligently researched, beautifully written, and uncannily in-character (her best story may be Altered States). I’m perpetually amazed that she isn’t recced all over the place; in my opinion, she’s probably the most under-appreciated writer in the fandom, and also one of the absolute best."[1] —irisbleufic
"[F]illed with creative imagery and word selection with an [sic] quirky sense of humor on top." —Knacc
"Most works focus on Aziraphale/Crowley, with varying degrees of explicit content (many can be read as gen). In addition to both lyrical prose and a biting sense of humor, you'll find impeccable historical research and a delicate combination of lightness and subtlety in the dialogue. [E]xpect a mature, defined style that's quite different from the one used in canon, but characterization that is right up to spec, which [...] counts far more than the ability to mimic the authors' style." —TVTropes
Liberals & Libertines
Argyle's GeoCities fansite, Liberals & Libertines, has been preserved and documented here as part of the OTW's GeoCities Rescue Project. The site contained some of Argyle's more literary and rare fandom fanfiction:
