Recs and Reviews

For a longer, multichaptered, plotty fic rec, here I have When the Ocean Meets the Shore, which features OCs from Steve’s past coming back to bite (or possibly shoot?) him in the ass, includes a little delirious!Steve, and has Danny pretty much saving the day. It also features flashbacks to Steve’s first days as a SEAL, to his days as an LTJG, which I like a lot, especially as it’s realistically written.[2]

Man. You are absolutely the queen of Steve!whump. And you do it so well. I love the wealth of detail and research you put into each story without overwhelming everyone with exposition - and your sensory descriptions are so effective. I don't read Gen very often, but I can't stop reading your stories.[3]

I loved this character exploration you did for Steve, and the depth you gave to Marcus that made him feel entirely real and not just some accessory whipped up for Steve whump. Plus the case fic and other characters were written better than a lot of actual H50 episodes so can we just get you on that crew? xD btw I know you wrote this before This is the Fire in Which We Burn but would you consider all of Steve's past that you write (that is not AU) to be part of the same "verse" or since they're not tied into a series are they just different forays into what could have been?[3]

Wonderful! Between the writing and the details, the story is completely immersive. The characterization is very rich, too, and the psychological nuances perfect. There's a great balance here in the story - the investigation of a current case, past issues for Steve and solid friendship between Danny and Steve and it all weaves together so well. I sense the real storm has only just begun for them.[4]
