Valeron Council was a Darkover council.
It was headed by Lynne Holdom, who later was the published of the Darkover zine Contes di Cottman IV.
This council was one of the first four Darkover councils. The other councils were Armida Council, Thendara Council, and Keeper's Tower.
Unlike the other three councils that depended on fans living in close proximity, members of Valeron Council were "scattered about the country connected only by the matrix screen known as the Post Office." [1] This council appears to have operated like an apazine.
In January 1977, Jacqueline Lichtenberg wrote:
This is a correspondence circle; there is a full house at the moment and it is not open to new members just now, but she is looking for New Jersey fans who will help in her extensive fanac. Members: Mary Tyrell, John Hopfner, Dennis Jarog, Jane McAshan, Sharon Ponzer, Paul Meyer (new provisionary), Peggy Gemignani, P.S. Nim, Joyce Meyer. Lynne chose the name Valeron Council because her grandmother's maiden name was Aillard. If anyone else has a specific reason to reserve a name for their Council even if they don't have a large membership, write me and I'll hold the name. [2]
