An Unrelated AU is one where canonically related characters are not related in a fanwork. It is common in the animash community to avoid incestuous pairings. It can also be a common AU scenario in fandoms featuring prominent incest pairings. This is a subgenre of Wincest fics in the Supernatural fandom, despite incest works been widely accepted in that fandom.
