Unforth, who writes under the name Nina Waters and straddles the line between fan and professional under their real name Claire Houck, has been active in many fandoms online and in person since 1994. They are now primarily known as a fanwriter, the person behind several danmei source blogs on Tumblr, and the owner of Duck Prints Press, a micropress that publishes original work by fancreators.

• Nerd Wars: multi-fandom craft “game” run on Ravelry starting in 2009; unforth stopped participating in 2013. Unforth was captain of the Babylon 5 team during Round 1 and captain of the Supernatural team for several years, and also advised the lead moderators with data collection and analysis on the success of the event.
• Writing Prompt Wednesday: multi-fandom prompt event run in 2015 and 2016.
• DCJ Big Bang: drafted the rules and helped with the creation of this event in 2017 and 2018.
