Trek Tribute Zine was a Kirk/Spock zine published in 2021. All of the proceeds went to OutRight International, an organization dedicated to LGBTQA+ human rights advocacy.

Editors intro:

I adore older zines. I'm not a connoisseur of zines or anything, but there's something exhilarating about seeing fan works

in print. It's preserved in a way that online fandom often isn't-the second a site isn't profitable, things change. There are NSFW bans to allow for ad revenue, or a site is simply shut down. (PSA: if you're able, donate to AO3's server funds to keep it fan-run, not run by some corporation that only has profits in mind!) All that to say, physical zines ensure there's a record around, and that's important.

That's another thing about zines: they're a snapshot into fan culture and mores of the time when they were made, so you run into all sorts of interesting fanons and popular headcanons (and terms like "fanon" and "headcanon" that may be dated in 5 years-anyone remember lemons and the kink tomato?). So while this isn't definitive, there's something cool about creating a record of fan works from a given time.

So here's our love letter to the original zines from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Since then, we've gone from The Premise to K/S to Spirk, we've added multiple shows and films, including an alternate original timeline, and this zine is cram-jam full of amazing creations done by fantastic people celebrating so much of it. It's hard to beat a piece done by someone passionate, and this volume delivers on zeal. So please enjoy this delightful work, and thank you so much for buying a copy.

  • The Biology of Vulcans, an essay by VTsuion
