Troy is a 2004 film loosely based on Homer's Iliad.
It gained fannish popularity partially due to the fannish drift of Lord of the Rings fans, as actors Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean appeared both films. Same-actor crossovers are common with Lord of the Rings as well as Pirates of the Caribbean and other fandoms.
The fannish phrase "cousins, totally cousins" is a reference to the film, which portrays Achilles and Patroclus as being cousins, despite general consensus of the Iliad's critics being that they were shield mates, Ancient Greek same-sex partners.

Fanfiction
- The Shell Game by Taz, a crossover with Highlander, Methos/Odysseus (2006) Recced by macgeorge1 at Crack Van: "It is a beautifully written, utterly fascinating and charming story - and sexy to boot. A very young Prince Odysseus meets a naked stranger conning the locals with only a small stone and three shells. The sense of time and place is exquisitely evoked, and we see the eager brashness of the young prince, as well as the easy grace and seductive power of the oldest survivor of them all."[1]
