Tiger & Bunny is a very popular anime about superheroes sponsored by companies created by Sunrise under the direction of Sato Keiichi that began April 3, 2011.

The anime follows the story of Kaburagi T. Kotetsu, or Wild Tiger, an older superhero with the ability of Hundred Power. He is also known for his destruction of property. The company that originally backed him was taken over. The new company that sponsors him has Kotetsu teaming up with Barnaby Brooks Jr. who also has the ability of Hundred Power, who Kotetsu begins to call Bunny due to the bunny-like ears of Barnaby's costume and the kicks he utilizes.

English-language fandom

As of the end of 2011, Tiger & Bunny was eligible for Yuletide, a rare fandom exchange.

Kotetsu/Barnaby is a popular slash pairing.

Shipping

Tiger & Bunny became wildly popular among fujoshi audiences soon after airing, due to the tension between the two main characters. Ten years after the series first aired, Kotetsu/Barnaby remains one of the most prominent ships among fan artists and doujinshi circles.

Most ships in the fandom are named according to a kanji related to the character, such as ToraUsa: "Tiger" + "Rabbit".

Prominent ships

Kotetsu T. Kaburagi/Barnaby Brooks, Jr., AKA KoteBani, ToraUsa, UsaTora: The fandom's biggest ship. Fans were drawn to the relationship between the two main characters, which is tense in the beginning but warms over time as they earn each other's trust. Despite their contrasting personalities, Kotetsu and Barnaby work well together, and by the end of the series they've become trusted partners who rely on each other on the job and beyond.

Keith Goodman/Ivan Karelin, AKA SoraOri: One of the most popular ships between supporting characters. While Keith and Ivan don't interact much in canon, both are fan favorites, and shippers enjoyed imagining the relationship between two polar opposites.

Keith Goodman/Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, AKA SoraTora: Both characters are popular with fans.

Ivan Karelin/Pao-Lin Huang, AKA LinLin Combi: Two of the younger heroes, who are sometimes seen working together in the background of scenes. As with SoraOri, fans enjoy shipping the outgoing and positive Pao-Lin with the quiet and withdrawn Ivan.

Ryan Goldsmith/Kotetsu or Barnaby, AKA ShishiTora and ShishiUsa: A latecomer to the franchise, Ryan appears in the second movie, Tiger&Bunny: The Rising. As Barnaby's arrogant new assigned partner, he antagonizes both Kotetsu and Barnaby, but ultimately proves himself decent at heart.

Antonio Lopez/Ryan Goldsmith, AKA UshiShishi: While Ryan doesn't interact with Antonio in canon, the ship took off both due to the sound of the ship name, and as an echo of the Kotetsu/Barnaby relationship, with an older veteran hero dealing with a popular younger newcomer.
