Excerpts

We can all agree that these are fictional stories. V.C. Andrews regularly wrote stories about incest and so have many other, notable authors. If you're disgusted by it, can you tell me when I ever told you you had to read it? Do I post on your het stories telling you that you're disgusting for writing about these things? No, I just look away and mind my own business.

Why do so many people feel the need to go out of their way to inform me that what I write is illegal and sinful? It's fiction. I don't think people should be in incestuous relationships, I think it just makes for a good plot line in a story. Just like I'm sure most murder mystery authors don't find murder to be fun and games, but they realize that it makes a good plot for a story.

And, also, the topics I choose to write about does not, in any way, dictate the kind of person that I am. It does not mean I support what I'm writing about. It does not make me a bad person. It just means that I write stories about whatever I feel like writing them about and just because it doesn't appeal to you or you find it gross (I find reading about the wet folds of some fictional female's vagina absolutely disgusting, but I'm not going to spam your fiction with my negativity) doesn't mean that I'm a bad person. It's all a matter of opinion, what's right and what's wrong, and it's not fair to judge somebody based on fiction that they write on fucking livejournal. If that were the case, I can only assume that every het writer out there bases the female character in their stories on themselves, and that would say a lot about every het writer out there.

But, I don't make those assumptions. Just like you shouldn't make assumptions about me or other hancest (or slash) writers out there. Just do me a favor and when you see a story that bothers you, or is something you're uninterested in, look the other way and move on. There's no need to freak out or get angry about it. It's fiction.

My point, here, is that we all write hanfic. We're all lame, writing stories about these boys because we can't think about anything else to write, and there is no reason to attack each other for our subject matter. I've never seen another fanbase attack each other as much as Hanson fans do, and especially within the hanfic community. It's honestly pathetic. Why can't we all be a little bit mature and realize that we're not all interested in the same things, we don't all like the same topics, and just mind our own business? Read and write what you like and ignore the other things. Why is that so hard?

Reactions

[prettyzombiegrl]:
I may dislike hancest and all of it's entirety but I have not once in my life ever gone to a writers journal or site and bashed them for writing it. Personally, I just think that it's wrong to leave that crap on your journal/site and I'm sorry people are doing that to you. You're right, people should only comment on things that actually matter, but as you know when writing something controversial you're going to get negative feedback from people who are strongly against the topic. It sucks, but there's always going to be THAT someone ya know?

[leastlikely]:

Nope, the bottom line is, you're a total creep. Every honest statement you will ever make in your entire life is discounted because you have written about two brothers fucking. These are matters of life and death, y'see!

ps JOKES ilu ♥

[jadedcharisma]:

If you revolve your plot around two brother's having sex, then I think it's just a cheap trick for cheap thrills..same with het fic for that matter....

but if what you're writing addresses meaningful things, whether it's between two brothers or a man and a woman, etc. , it can still be talented writing....

I've only read a tiny bit of hancest once (and only bc there was no disclaimer) and it was pretty ridiculous (therefore I never read it again), so I guess I can't really discount the genre entirely based upon one occurence, as there is het fic out there just as ridiculous....
