The World Under Heaven, Here All Is Lent is a Merlin/Arthur story by takadainmate (20,000 words). It was a runner-up in the categories best 'Action/Adventure fic' and best 'Hurt/Comfort fic' in the Merlin/Arthur Fanfic Awards 2008.

Summary: Arthur and Merlin survive.

Excerpt: It was raining. It was raining and there was thunder somewhere in the distance and the vague flash of lightening casting unnatural shadows amongst the trees, cutting across the dulled afternoon light. Merlin thought, I'm going to drown on land at this rate, and How stupid is that?

Merlin and Arthur need to defeat an evil sorcerer if they want to survive. Lots of rain, running, h/c, angst, whumping, snuggling in caves and even more rain.

Recs and Reviews

This fic is an excellent Action/Adventure story with great characterization. I love the portrayal of both Arthur and Merlin here, great snark with just enough UST and compassion between them that it feels very canon. A very well told story and I didn't notice the lack of porn for a minute.[1]

This is one of my fandom favorites so far. Merlin and Arthur in a cold, wet forest facing down an evil creature. I love the atmosphere in this, and also, it is an Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic story and I have much, much love for this particular sub-genre.[2]

The dynamic between Arthur and Merlin here is awesome, as they work together so effortlessly to defeat the menace.[3]
