Some Starsky & Hutch fans referred to a well-known 1976 publicity photo as "The Wedding Photo" which portrays Starsky is standing next to a seated Hutch. There were multiple images from this professional photo shoot, some with Hutch's hands folded, some with Starsky leaning on him, facing away, or facing the camera. Some fans remember there was one with both men holding flowers.

This composition is reminiscent of the style of some old-fashioned photos taken of newly-married couples.

A fan in 2006 remarked:

One of the things that immediately triggered my fascination with the film "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes" is that in the opening credits, you see a photo of Holmes standing by a seated Watson in that exact same "wedding" pose. I was a wee thing who hadn't yet heard of slash -- but oh my was I riveted. (Turns out Billy Wilder had directed the film with the instructions to the actor to portray Sherlock as gay.) [1]
