From the zine's disclaimer:

Prerequisite Disclaimer: All of the Buffy Characters belong to Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy (argh) Productions. Shang Tsung & co. are all care of the guys who brought you Mortal Kombat. The character of Jordan Black is inspired by, but not created by Chris Carter and the folks at Millennium. Evan Cortez looks and sounds like the character of the same name from ‘Nash Bridges’ and is probably the property of Don Johnson Productions. Other than Jordan, none of these guys belong to me. They are used without permission and for (alas) no profit. I would like to think that especially in cases of fanfic that imitation is the highest form of flattery, and hope that my stuff is taken in that light.

From the zine, the author's afterword:

When I started work on ‘The Coming Storm’ in April of last year, I had yet to see the momentous events of Becoming (the season finale) and could only vaguely predict what the events of the third season would be. Needless to say I took some creative liberties.

It has always been a fault of mine that I tend to ramble and low and behold my series of short stories become a lot...longer than I had originally planned, so long in feet that I had not yet finished when the third season of Buffy started. Seeing both how much work I had left to do (at least five more chapters in ‘The Coming Storm’ and all this story does is introduce all the characters) and how fer off my vision was from the developing plot of the show. As a result, I sort of let things lie in the midst of this chapter and never finished. It was only when the folks at Unicorn Press asked to publish my stuff that I felt I should at least complete chapter three. In doing so, however, I have rediscovered my joy in creating this story and, if properly asked and cajoled, may once more put finger to keyboard and bang off another chapter or two. I would ultimately like to finish ‘Coming Storm’ but who knows what the future holds.

Thanks for reading my stuff (feedback via E-mail deeply appreciated) and toodles. -- Ross Jenkins
