The Fall of the Tower of Pizza (Russian: Падение Пиццеанской Башни), titled The Leaning Tower of Pizza in English, is a Pizza Tower con skit written by Zach Grubultz and performed by Psychocircle on July 16th, 2023 at Tanibata, a media convention in Rostov-on-Don, Rostov Oblast, Russia. A professional recording of the skit with English subtitles was posted to Youtube on August 9th, 2023. The play's narrative is a loose adaptation of the plot of Pizza Tower.
Synopsis
At Peppino's Pizzeria, restaurant owner and chef Peppino Spaghetti laments the decline of his business, attributing the decline to "Tasty Tower", a recently-opened competing restaurant operated by Pizzahead. Peppino receives a letter from Pizzahead offering to collaborate, but Peppino refuses the offer. Later, Pizzahead contacts Peppino via television broadcast, and informs him that he intends to destroy his restaurant with a laser by dawn due to his refusal to collaborate. Enraged, Peppino heads to Tasty Tower to stop Pizzahead's plot.
At Tasty Tower, with the assistance of his coworker Gustavo, Peppino makes his way through the tower, fighting and defeating five of Pizzahead's employees: Pepperman, The Vigilante, The Noise, Noisette, and Fake Peppino. He then reaches the top of the tower, destroys the laser device, and confronts Pizzahead. Pizzahead taunts Peppino, then calls upon the employees that Peppino previously fought to fight Peppino again. Peppino fights the employees and knocks out Pizzahead.
After the fight with Pizzahead, Gustavo informs Peppino that Tasty Tower has begun to collapse. With Peppino's assistance, the cast flees the tower. Afterwards, Gustavo suggests that Peppino hire Pizzahead's now-former employees, to which the employees agree to.
Reception
The Fall of the Tower of Pizza first came to the attention of the wider Pizza Tower fandom from a Twitter thread posted on July 16th by KetDarkDragon, a popular fanartist in the Pizza Tower fandom. KetDarkDragon's initial tweet received around 600 retweets and 3,500 likes.[1] Many fans in responses to the thread expressed interest in seeing a recording of the skit. In the replies to some tweets, Zach Grubltz stated that a professional recording would be uploaded.
On August 9th, 2023, a recording of the skit was posted on Youtube by Setsuna Mudo (also known as FokusnikD). The recording was subsequently posted on social media sites by both fans and the official Twitter account for the Pizza Tower developers, with the developer's tweet receiving around 400 retweets and 2,000 likes.[2]
