The Editor's Dilemma: Kiss by Feyrer is a 1981 filk (to the tune of "Kiss of Fire") by Roberta Rogow.

illo by Leah Rosenthal portraying horrified fans opening an issue of Grip

It was printed in Grip #8 in November 1980, and reprinted a year later in Rec-Room Rhymes #2.

A similar filk was also published in Rec-Room Rhymes #2: see Mucho, Macho?: A PROTEST SONG.

The topic of the filk was slash and how despite Rogow's determination to keep her zine Grip G-rated and abide by her rule: "with integrity -- no pornography!", if, hypothetically she were sent an illo by Gayle F, she would print the illo to boost her readers' interest.

Rogow comments in "Grip" #8: "'The Kiss' by Feyrer" is my response to the art of' a 'very talented lady whose subject matter tends to get more exotic with each 'zine she illustrates."

It is likely that Rogow was commenting on this illo, which had been published the year before in Nome #2.

The Lyrics

Selecting artwork is a chore that I delight in.
It's something I can spend all day and half the night in;
But when I thought I had the art-work I require,
I got this illo in the mail, called "Kiss" by Feyrer.
It looks like Kirk and Spock are passionately stewing.
Of course I'm not exactly sure just what they're doing!
It's bound to make my reader's blood pressure go higher --
The question is, what am I going to do?
It's quite a problem, a fanzine with no art in,
I've go[t] a lovely story, with illos done by "Martynn".
And Gordon Carleton has also got a part in
My little fanzine that was always rated "G"
With integrity -- no pornography!
If I could just remember where my Burnside file is.
If Leah Rosenthal would settle what her style is.
And if my deadline weren't going near the wire.
Then I could simply send the Obs'zine "Kiss" by Feyrer.
But since my artists can't comply with all my wishes.
And since I'm still awaiting art of Leslie Fish's
I'll centerfold it, and I'll write across the flyer:
Please buy this fanzine, 'cause it's got "Kiss" by Ferer [sic]! (Oh-lay!)
