Hello! Please edit this template to add the category "Fanworks". Cheers. Lim 13:31, 8 November 2008 (UTC)lim
Hmm. Would you put a fannish press that put out zines -- Manacles Press for example -- here, or in Fannish activities?--Sherrold 21:06, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't put the press here, since the press itself isn't a fanwork, it produces fanworks. I think I'd put them either under Fan Activities -> Print Media -> Zines, or *maybe* under People -> Organizations & Corporations. (It's not a tight fit there, but that might be closer than anything else.) --Arduinna 21:20, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's where I've been putting all of the collectives, like Media Cannibals and the houston crowd and WOAD society. We don't have anything that specifically a fan organization. --rache 21:26, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Switch to Infobox metatemplate
This article or section has been marked for the attention of Fanlore Gardeners. |
Since the extension Templatestyles has been implemented on the wiki and metatemplates such as {{infobox}}
work properly now, I think this template would benefit from switching to using the metatemplate. I have created a reworked version of the template on the sandbox page. Changes include:
- Switching the template to use
{{infobox}}
for consistency with other infoboxes, better readability, and ease of future modification; - Changing the "related articles" link to an internal link, rather than an external one;
- Adding aliases to certain fields, in the event that a user uses a different name for a field;
- Implementing fandom category to allow for diffusion;
- Implementing InfoboxImage to ensure images are displayed consistently (and with that, implementation of image caption and image alt text)
Gardeners, please let me know what you think and if you are interested in implementing my proposed changes. Thank you. Pinky G Rocket (talk) 15:40, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
- Looks very interesting! So this would be backwards compatible to how it is now, it would use
{{infobox}}
which means we could modify{{infobox}}
in the future and it would inherit those changes. Am I correct in understanding that the new features not related to maintenance, infobox consistency, etc are the fandom category field and the updates to the image field to have more features, and everything else is a straightforward upgrade of existing functionality? Also, It would be nice to see some examples of this sandbox version in action. -- FBV (talk) 22:42, 16 October 2023 (UTC)- Sorry for the very late reply, but your understanding is correct. As for an example, I threw up one on my sandbox page. (Do note that since it is a sandbox, there is also some other stuff there.) Pinky G Rocket (talk) 02:01, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
